How to clean the vent valve on a Reka glue gun.
Every time you release the trigger on an air-driven Reka gun, you should hear it vent through the valve on the lid. If it stops venting, or glue drips with the trigger released, the vent valve (SEV) is probably clogged. Clean or replace it only while the gun is warm: working on it cold can damage the gun.
Steps
Burn risk: wear heat-resistant gloves and goggles.
- Empty the gun.
- Switch it off, unplug it and disconnect the compressed air, then take the lid off while the gun is still warm.
- Soften the glue with a hot air gun.
- With the lid hot, remove the valve with a wide flat screwdriver, or very carefully with pliers.
- Clean it, or fit new parts.
- Refit the valve and the lid.

Stop it happening again
- Park the gun on a level surface on its wire bracket, or on stand #1266, or hang it on balancer #3544.
- Fill only to about 1.5 cm below the rim.
- Keep the nozzle pointing down.
