Genuine spares and wear parts.
The parts of a hot melt gun that wear are the nozzle, the O-rings and seals, the vent-valve parts on air-driven guns, and the lid. Genuine Reka parts are made to the gun's own dimensions and temperatures. Non-approved spares and home repairs are not covered by the warranty. Keep a spare nozzle of each type you use and, on air-driven guns, a complete spare lid.
For Reka hot melt glue guns. The spares on this site are genuine Reka parts.
When a nozzle or an O-ring goes, the quickest fix is often whatever part is nearest. It rarely stays cheap. A part that is a fraction off in size, or not made for the heat and pressure inside a hot melt gun, leaks, drips or fails early, and the downtime costs far more than the part.
What wears in a hot melt gun
| Part | Why it wears | Sign it needs replacing |
|---|---|---|
| Nozzle | Wear and damage, foreign objects in the glue | Dripping, less glue than usual, a bead going off at an angle or in spirals |
| O-rings, gaskets, seals | Normal wear: they are wear parts | Glue or air escaping at the lid or joints |
| Vent valve parts (air-driven guns) | Glue getting into the valve | No venting sound after a trigger pull, dripping when released |
| Lid | Glue in the venting hole | Low flow or a leaking nozzle (MS guns) |
| Piston O-rings (MS guns) | Normal wear | Hot melt leaking out of the casing: stop using the gun and send it in |
| Single-use cartridge piston (cartridge guns) | Used once by design | Every new single-use cartridge |
The fault pages cover each sign in detail: dripping · spiral or angled bead · low glue flow · vent valve cleaning.
Why genuine parts
- They fit exactly. A genuine nozzle seats and seals in the melting block as designed. A worn or defective nozzle is one of the two usual causes of a gun that drips.
- They are made for the temperature. Seals and O-rings inside a hot melt gun work at up to about 200 °C or more, under air pressure on air-driven guns. A general-purpose O-ring of the same size may not survive it.
- They keep the warranty. The 6-month warranty does not cover non-approved spares or consumables, or repairs and changes we have not authorised. See warranty.
- They are the parts the operating instructions are written for. Nozzle changes, vent cleaning and lid replacement all assume the original parts.
What you can change yourself, and what you can’t
You can change the parts the manual lets you change: the nozzle, the lid, and the vent-valve parts (silencer and seals), with the gun unplugged, warm and empty. Everything else is a repair. Reka’s manual says self-made repairs void the warranty and asks for the gun to be sent to the supplier with its type and serial number. That is us: we repair in Mumbai or send the gun to Reka, depending on the fault.
Spares worth keeping at the factory
- One spare nozzle of each type you use. A blocked or worn nozzle is behind many common faults: dripping, low flow, an angled bead.
- A complete spare lid (air-driven guns). When a vent blocks, swap the lid and clean the old one later, so the line keeps running.
- The wear-part set for your model, with the O-rings and seals that wear.
- For cartridge guns: spare single-use cartridges or the refillable cartridge and its lid set, if you fill your own glue.

Where wear comes from
Much of it starts with habits you can change: laying the gun down with liquid glue (glue into the vent), dirty glue (blocked nozzles), running too hot or too long (charred glue), and forcing the trigger on half-melted glue. See glue gun care and maintenance.
Questions.
Which parts of a hot melt glue gun wear out?
Nozzles, O-rings, gaskets and seals, the vent-valve parts on air-driven guns, and the lid. On MS guns, the O-rings at the piston wear too.
Are wear parts covered by the warranty?
No. The 6-month warranty covers manufacturing defects; nozzles, O-rings, gaskets, seals and similar parts are wear parts.
Can I use a local nozzle or O-ring on a Reka gun?
It may seem to fit, but a part that is slightly off in size or not made for the temperature can leak, drip or fail early. Non-approved spares are not covered by the warranty.
Can I repair the gun myself?
Change only the parts the manual lets you change: nozzle, lid and vent-valve parts. Reka's manual says self-made repairs void the warranty, so send the gun to us for anything more.
Which spares should I keep at the factory?
A spare nozzle of each type you use, and on air-driven guns a complete spare lid. Wear-part sets are available by model.
Still stuck? Tell us.
Send the gun model, serial number (on the nameplate), purchase date and a photo or short video. We will tell you the fix, send the part, or arrange the repair.
