Service and troubleshooting for Reka glue guns.
Most faults come back to a few causes: a blocked or worn nozzle, a clogged vent valve on the lid, the wrong temperature, or low air pressure. Find your fault below for the fix. If the gun needs a repair, contact Mahisa first: often we send the part for you to fit, otherwise we repair it.
What is wrong with your gun?
Quick fault table
| What you see | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Glue drips or runs with the trigger released | Clogged vent valve, or a worn or damaged nozzle. Cartridge guns: the piston is stuck | Clean the vent valve and replace the silencer · replace the nozzle · replace the cartridge |
| No glue, or too little, after full heat-up | Dirt in the nozzle or a worn nozzle · air pressure too low · temperature too low · cartridge not opened or piston stuck · MS guns: glue blocking the vent hole in the lid | Replace the nozzle · check the air · check the temperature setting · open or replace the cartridge · clean the lid |
| Gun does not heat | Switched off · MS guns: thermostat turned fully left | Check power and the switch · LCD models: switch the temperature control on · turn the thermostat up |
| Glue shoots at an angle or in spirals | Dirt in the nozzle | Replace the nozzle, or flush it |
| Glue too thin or too thick | Temperature too high or too low | Set it to the adhesive’s datasheet |
| Brown flakes in the glue | Overheated, or kept hot too long | Lower the temperature, and turn it down during breaks |
| Trigger hard to pull (MS 80, MS 200) | Dirt in or worn nozzle · glue not hot enough | Replace the nozzle · check the temperature |
| Glue leaks out of the casing (MS 80, MS 200) | Worn piston O-rings | Stop using the gun and send it for repair |
| Temperature falls to 130 °C, then climbs again (air-driven guns) | Overheating, faulty regulation or thermal switch | Switch off at once. Needs a qualified repair |
| Display blinks 2.5.9 (LCD models) | Temperature sensor broken or disconnected | Switch off at once. Needs a qualified repair |
| Display shows 999 (LCD models) | Voltage swing in the mains | Unplug, wait about 20 seconds, plug in again. If it stays, send it in |
| Spray pattern wrong (TR 60 LCD, TR 80 LCD) | Air and glue pressure need setting, or the glue is not made for spraying | At the stand, set glue pressure to zero and spray air to maximum (6 bar), set the temperature; hot air should leave the spray cap almost at once · use a sprayable adhesive |
Five habits Reka asks for
- Keep the nozzle pointing down. Never lay the gun on its side or hold it nozzle-up.
- Park it on its stand, wire stand or magnetic plate.
- Fill only to about 1.5 cm below the rim.
- Turn the temperature down during long breaks.
- Never clean with solvents such as acetone, toluene, benzene or turpentine: risk of explosion.
Service in India
- Mahisa services Reka guns in India. Depending on the fault, we repair the gun in Mumbai or send it to Reka in Germany.
- Where a replaceable part is the fix (a nozzle, the lid, vent-valve parts, O-rings or seals), we send you the part with instructions so you can change it on site, with no need to send the gun.
- Warranty: 6 months from Mahisa. Wear parts such as nozzles, O-rings, gaskets and seals are not covered. See the warranty.
- Genuine Reka spares are delivered in 4–5 weeks. See spares and accessories. For lines that cannot stop, we suggest keeping a complete spare lid with its vent valve on hand.
- To report a fault, send: gun model, serial number (on the nameplate on the side of the casing), purchase date, and a photo or short video, on WhatsApp or through the form below.
- For anything beyond those parts, contact us before opening the gun: Reka’s manual says self-made repairs void the warranty.
Questions.
Why is my hot melt glue gun dripping?
Reka names a worn or damaged nozzle or a clogged vent valve on the lid. The vent clogs when a full gun is laid down or tipped nozzle-up. Replace the nozzle or clean the vent.
Why is my glue gun not heating?
Check power and the switch first. On LCD models, three dashes mean the temperature control is off. On MS guns, check the thermostat is not turned fully left.
How do I unblock a glue gun nozzle?
Replace a contaminated nozzle. On air-driven guns you can also flush it: half full, 20 to 40 °C below working temperature, one pass at 6 bar.
What does 999 on a Reka display mean?
A voltage swing in the mains. Unplug, wait about 20 seconds and plug in again. If 999 stays, send the gun in.
Do you repair Reka glue guns in India?
Yes. Depending on the fault, we repair the gun in Mumbai or send it to Reka in Germany. If a replaceable part is the fix, such as a nozzle, the lid or vent-valve parts, we send it to you with instructions to change it on site.
Does opening the gun void the warranty?
Reka's manual says self-made repairs void the warranty. Changing the nozzle, the lid and vent-valve parts is covered in Reka's own instructions; for anything else, contact us first.
Does the warranty cover nozzles and O-rings?
No. Wear parts such as nozzles, O-rings, gaskets and seals are not covered by the 6-month warranty.
Still stuck? Tell us.
Send the gun model, serial number (on the nameplate), purchase date and a photo or short video. We will tell you the fix, send the part, or arrange the repair.
